Mixed drink Ole Blue Eyes in champagne glass: gin base, flowery and sweet, pink and sparkling

Ole Blue Eyes

Special (not on the menu)

Special (not on the menu)

Gin base and flowery, with a sparkle.  Love the simple, stylish glass. Edible floating flower on top.  Sweet, with that barely bitter-on-the-back- of-the-tongue gin finish. Yummy!

Appetizer of ham, garlic, and tomato in a butter and olive oil sauce with crusty bread. Off menu-ask

Crusty bread with ham, garlic, and tomato with a butter/olive oil sauce.

The sauce was so good, we wouldn't let the servers clear it.  After we said no about three times, they brought us more bread to go with it instead! Yay! I love a story with a happy ending, or in this case, beginning.

Bone-in pork chop with small trident stuck upright in bone served w/ sides over balsamic drizzle

Pork chop, bone up, mini fork trident stuck in the marrow.  Fell off the bone but some outer crust was harder (delicious effect). Fat was rendered perfectly.  Garlic mashed potatoes as good as expected but did not stand out.  Brussels sprouts a marvel with tender/crunchy, grilled, caramelized outer layers. Drizzle of balsamic was just the right condiment.

Thick, homemade noodles with clingy cream sauce, sausage and herbs.

Thick sticky cream sauce. Sausage was hardy with the right mix of herbiness and tang. Really punched through the sauce, accentuating it.

Blueberry Cobbler peeking over ramekin, covered in blueberry compote, topped with scoop of vanilla.

Drool-worthy

Let's be honest. By the time this came around I was already lembas bread full, but the smell as it arrived and the texture of the first bite did me in.  It's blueberry cobbler or bread pudding.  By any name, delicious!

Treeline silhouetted against grey light, fading to yellow (ombré) with hanging dot of yellow sun.

Final Thoughts

  Overall: AMAZING. Go. Go now.

Atmosphere: Welcoming. There is chatter, so go early for quiet, but don't you miss out on this food! The owners both came to the table at different points, though I didn't know that at the time. They were both lovely and happy that we were so excited to eat their food.

You can see they love what they do.
